Kit Heyam explores the effects of colonization and the spread of Christianity and how they affect modern ideas of gender within this research piece. Providing case studies and analytical discussion on the history of gender, they focus not only on the history we have access to, but also on how history was lost and is still being recovered. 

Dianna Anderson writes within their personal identity as a nonbinary scholar in this research based analysis piece in order to attempt to answer the variety of questions that surround the nonbinary community both within the community and the questions often posed by outside perspectives. By moving beyond the medical lens of gender historically and instead focussing on social history, Anderson moves beyond the historical bias that has been developed due to colonization. 

Jeff Garvin managed to write this 330 page novel without once revealing the main character, Riley's, assigned gender at birth. Focussing on his perspective of what gender-fluidity might feel like, he discusses trans and queer hate crimes within news and media and was initially inspired to write this novel after a conversation with friends about a news story regarding a transgender woman's right to use the women's restroom in a court case.
